I am an artist and educator based in Des Moines, Iowa whose practice spans painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, and fiber arts. Much of my work draws inspiration from traditional quilt patterns and folk art, which I combine with personal memories and depictions of everyday objects and scenes. As both an artist and an art teacher in Des Moines Public Schools, I am deeply connected to my community and see my studio and classroom practices as extensions of each other. Growing up in the Midwest, I’ve always been drawn to the way quilt blocks historically communicate care, belonging, and place, which are values I carry into my teaching and my artmaking. In my work, I aim to create a sense of comfort, stability, and wonder in ordinary moments.
